Here is a picture of each of 10 varieties, including 4 of 5 of the different star mag variations.
The 11th is below, not previously captured on film.
Yes, there are 11 varieties of T-63 20 round mags.
This final mag is similar to the Stamped mag above, but with just 1 bar,
as the above mag is a 2 Bar Mag.
The 12th and final Magazine is a 2 x 1 Bar, that Does not have a Bolt Hold Open Feature.
They are exactly the same as the 2x1 with BHW, except not BHO. It is identical to the 2nd mag from right in the last photo. BHO and non BHO 2x1.
Please look over the visual evidence below. Here are 8.
Here are 8 of the Chinese 20 round magazines. The one at the top left (wrapped) is the same as the magazine at the top right corner, so I will leave out that one from the list below.
1) 20 Round stamped "Star" Mag. (Top Row, 2nd from left)
2) 20 Round stamped "cut out" "Star" Mag.
3) 20 Round Traditional "Star" Magazine.
4) 20 Round 3 rib Chinese flat back AK Magazine.
5) 20 Round ALL Stamped Mag. (Bottom Row from Left)
6) 20 Round Type 63 Single Bar Mag, (Also Imported with the Type 86S Bullpup)
7) 20 Round Type 63 Parallel Double Bar Mag.
8) 20 Round Black Plastic / Phonelic / Bakelite Type 63 Mag.
#9) 20 Round round two bar slant mag in the picture below on the left.
(Refer to Magazine #7 above, the 20 Round Type 63 Double Bar Mag.)
The Mag on Right Side.
The difference may be difficult to notice, but the Magazine on the left has a Double Bar which is slightly canted. (Top Bar is Angled) And the Magazine on the right, Like #7 above, has two PARALLEL Bars. Slight difference, but a manufacturer difference none the less.
Finally #10)
This picture came from a collector. His handle is Jopokk. This is the 10th and most intriguing of all of the Chinese 20 rounders. Very similar to the photo above, but these "STAR" magazines are the most rare of all of the Chinese 20 type 63 round mags. Look closely, the double rib patter at the bottom is canted / slanted on the mag on the left, and parallel on the mag on the right. This is a very slight difference, but a unique variation that must be noted. Thanks Jopokk!
So, there are 11 Types of Chinese AK-47 / Type 63 Magazines available.

These 20 Round "Star" Magazines are very scarce.
I have seen some go for less that $150.00, while some collectors try to pawn them for over $300.00.

The next 3 pictures are from the Cheeks Collection on the
AK-Files. He has 9 of the ten possible 20 round mags in his collection at this time. He seeks one more mag to create a 10 for 10 collection. That may never have been done at one time before. Please leave a message below if you have the final STAR mag with the cut back follower, and would be willing sell it for him. I will get right back to you about it. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteThey are in really good condition but not pristine.
Any idea of what they are worth?
