Polytech Galil Side-Folder, AKS-7.62 Chinese AK-47

As you can see, the Galil is about
1" longer than the Bakelite side-folder.

The Polytech Galil Side-folder is a unique Chinese AK-47. It is designated as an AKS-7.62. These guns were made for the American civilian market, and the Galil stock was a direct knock-off from the Israeli Galil folding stock. The Polytech Galil side folder was made over one inch longer than the full stock models and the under folders. They were designed for a shooter with a longer arm who needed greater distance to make a comfortable pull.

Here is my Friend's Galil that is NIB.
These pictures are from the Valley Walker Collection.

Galil side folders will accept a Type 1 Legend style bayonet,
although it appears that most of them came without a bayonet.

Some American shooters like this Polytech version more than any of the others, since it fits them most ergonomically. The Galil folding stock is one inch longer than the 56S-2 sidefolders, making it 10 inches!

I personally do not like the tubular design of the folding stock, and prefer a Bakelite side-folder.

The Galils all came with three 30 round Chrome follower magazines, sling, oil bottle and a manual.
Legend Type I bayonets do fit.

  1. Any idea how many of the AKS-762 were imported?
