Norinco Type 88SB .223 AKS

The Type 88SB is a Chinese copy of a true Khyber Pass AKS. These guns were made in .223 of course. They did make them with a foreward bayonet lug, beneath the front sight base. They can accept a bayonet with or without the AK-74 muzzle break installed.

I would like to see a picture of that. please send in one if you own an 88SB.

A few were made in 7.62x 39, but not many.

Here is a full stock 88SB on the right.  I was told by the owner that it is calipered in 7.62x39.

This is a Type 88SB with triangle folding stock. See the clip? it is a .556 cal.

This is a new manufacture NORINCO AK-103.  With the assault ban in place, we can not get them into the U.S. anymore, so the few that were brought in before 1989 are very very rare.

Norinco / Polytech Chinese 84S-2 Red Bakelite Sidefolder .223 AK-74

The 84S-2 Red Bakelite Sidefolder is exactly the same at the 84S-5 Black Bakelite Sidefolder, except in Red Bakelite. These guns are very scarce on the market today and they were all imported before 1989. They accept a Type II Chinese Bayonet, and take 30 round magazines.

Here are two good pictures to describe them.  They are very uncommon and likely sought after by .223 AK-74 collectors. Notice the long birdcage flash hider.

Chinese 84S-1 Under Folder .223 Norinco/ Polytech AK-74

The Norinco / Poly Tech 84S-1 is an underfolder in .223, and was an AK-74 gun for the American market. These guns are almost exactly identical to an AK-47 or AKS, except chambered in .223. However, their prices are significantly lower than an AK-47 in 7.62x39. Still, they are beautiful guns and coveted by .223 collectors. You will find one of these for less than $1,500.00.
ALL NIB examples come with three 30 round mags, sling, manual, oil bottle, and a cleaning kit.
Here is a nice on with its magazine in, and bayonet fixed.
You can identify a .223 AK once you see it, by looking at the magazine.
See,  these mags are more straight, to accept the .223 shells.
The 84S-1 is on top, and the 84S full stock is on bottom.
Both have the correct style birdcage flash hider.

This is a nice example, with three mags and a bayonet.

Thanks for looking,  please comment below on what you think about the AK-74
and the .223 chambered AKs.

Here is an 84S Under-folder in Black Bakelite in service in Uganda.

Chinese 5.56 x 45 84S-5A Bakelite Folding Stock .223 AK-74

The Chinese began making an AK-74 .223 AK-47 for the American public in the 1980's.
This version is the Type 84S-5, Bakelite Side Folding Stock Model. These guns sat bolt facing down in their original box, with 3 x 30 round magazines, Sing, oil bottle, and Bayonet.

Here is my 84S, and my 84S5-A side by side for comparison.

Here is a video of mine:

The black Bakelite is gorgeous, and
very sought after for AK builds by collectors making Black Out AKs.

These guns have the traditional cleaning kit in their but stock.
It is removed by depressing a small pin.

They all seem to have the Type M1919 Style pistol grip. I like them very much.
They are very comfortable to hold.

All of these guns seem to be NORINCO,  but they may have come in through different importers.
And they all came in with the .223 bird cage flash hider.

Here is a Factory 66 84S-5 imported by CSI, LA.

This one is pictured with a 15 round magazine.

Here is a nice gun with a 30 round magazine.

Here is a very sharp looking 84S-5A side by side with a Poly (386) side folder for reference.

Chinese Black Bakelite 84S-3A 5.56 x 45 Full Stock, C.S.I. CA, .223 Import

The Norinco 84S-3 Full Stock .223 AK-74. These are beautiful guns. The have very little shine and seem to make good shooters. They all seem to be Norinco guns, and came shipped with 3x 30 round magazines, sling, oil bottle, and a black Bakelite bayonet.
There is mine on the right.
Please see this video of mine:

The black Bakelite is quite sought after by collectors making their own AK versions.
